About Me

Oh hi!

My name is Mae, the illustrator behind Mae Fox Creative. I started this business in my mid-30s—not exactly on a whim, but after taking the scenic route to get here.

I’ve always had a creative spirit. I remember getting lost in flow state as early as 6 years old, painting in our playroom, and doodling my way through middle school just to stay sane. At 16, I designed my first greeting card and felt that tiny spark: what if I could do this for work?

But then life happened—and logic got in the way.

I set aside my paintbrushes and went to x-ray tech school, convinced a medical career would be more stable. (Spoiler: I hated it.) I moved into marketing and accounting roles, and over time, creativity quietly faded out of my life.

During a particularly challenging season, I signed up for a pottery class. I wasn’t very good at it—but it sparked something.

From there, creativity slowly found its way back to me.

Gardening taught me patience and how to embrace every season. Knitting showed me I could learn anything I set my mind to. Sewing reminded me that mistakes are just part of the process.

Then came oil painting.

At a local flea market, I took a chance and set out a few of my pieces alongside vintage finds—and to my surprise, they sold.

It felt like proof that the spark I felt at 16 had never really gone away. I just needed to find my way back to it.

Mae Fox Creative is my way of honoring that spark. My work is inspired by seasons of life, small joys, and curiosity. I create playful, whimsical illustrations designed to spark joy and add a little brightness to everyday life.

Thank you so much for being here—I hope my work brings a little light to your day.
